Hyundai Grand Santa Fe SUV – speed and power to conquer conservatism
The most powerful, comfortable, and expensive Hyundai SUV has a new name. It replaced the predecessor officially removed from the conveyor, on the nameplate of which there was an unimpressive Hyundai ix55 inscription.
The exterior of the new Grand strongly resembles the previous Hyundai Santa Fe, but this feeling arises only with a cursory visual inspection. If these machines are installed “side to side”, the initial impressions quickly dissipate. The new crossover received a modified grille, front bumper, with built-in fog lights, rear-view mirrors. This is on the bow of the body, and at the stern you can see new feet and a silencer, which has now become a pair, and its banks with rectangular sockets are located under the rear bumper on the sides.
The new Grand SUV has the most impressive dimensions in the lineup, which was achieved not only due to the platform, but also thanks to the expanded wheel base, overhangs. It has become much more spacious in the cabin, and passengers of all rows of the car can enjoy additional centimeters of space.
The interior is distinguished by excellent sound insulation, which makes the movement comfortable, recalling the premium class of the SUV, which Korean developers strive to achieve tangible victories in.
In the basic version of the SUV, a very active gasoline power unit of 270 liters is proposed. s, capable of accelerating this “colossus” to 100 km / h in less than 9 seconds. This indicator is impressive. Another completely fresh V6 3.3-liter installation, but the issue of supplying an SUV with this type of ICE to the domestic car market is still under consideration. But domestic lovers of off-road drive are well known for a diesel engine tested in Kia (2.2 cc), which has shown itself well both when driving around the city and outside it. The main advantage of this unit is efficiency (up to 10 liters) and unpretentiousness. Of course, 10 liters, these are the results of standard test measurements, in fact, you have to add a couple of liters, but compared to the gasoline versions that “ask” for at least 20 liters in the combined cycle of operation, this is not bad.
The transmission of the Grand SF SUV is all-wheel drive, although the main power of the torsion moment is distributed on the wheels of the front axle. There is also a differential clutch, but it is recommended to block it on particularly difficult road sections, although the driver does not have to remember this, as this function can be automatically performed by the machine’s electronics.
Undoubtedly, the new Grand deserves a place in the class to which it is assigned, but we should not forget that this is not a specific frame SUV, therefore, it is not recommended to ride it “headlong” on any road, and this approach was not included in the initial calculations of the designers company. Rather, it is a car for respectable, conservative users who are not indifferent to aggressive, sometimes extreme driving, but remember that “everything is good in moderation”.
