Subaru Impreza WRX STI
A car with the letter STI should be familiar to every self-respecting motorist. After all, the roots of such a Subaru go back to the twentieth century – into the world of rally racing, where all-wheel drive and unpaved special stages reign. It was then that the motorsport legend began to emerge. And the name of this Legend is Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
The new Impreza tried to incorporate all the best that Subaru had for all the time – if we talk about the exterior. Obviously, this is the most attractive Impreza of all generations. A clever squint of headlights with powerful bumpers, and an air intake on the hood, coupled with four exhaust pipes and a large wing, makes it clear that something outstanding is installed under the hood. And there is. The power plant has a power potential of three hundred horsepower with a volume of two and a half liters.
The salon is ascetic, but filled with an atmosphere of sport and aggression. What are the chairs with red accents and powerful rollers of lateral support. There are carbon elements on the center console. The instrument panel has a rich red backlight and a flight computer in the center of the analog tachometer and speedometer.
The rear sofa is quite spacious, but it looks rustic and does not have a central armrest. Although, it is unlikely that they will often travel here, given the true purpose of the STI.
Impeza STI was created in order to excite the blood in the veins, and it copes with this task – with a bang. The boxer engine growls in the womb and quickly pushes the arrow into the red zone, pressing it into the driver’s seat. The accelerator pedal is tight but responsive – which allows you to correctly control the traction capabilities of the motor.
But the six-speed “handle” suffers from long strokes, and the clutch pedal could be less long-stroke .
To say that the Subaru Impreza WRX STI is perfectly controlled is to say nothing. Symmetrical four-wheel drive, bringing the Japanese manufacturer the cups, has already become the hallmark of the company. The nature of the chassis and the settings of the four-wheel drive is biased towards oversteer.
Since this configuration is considered the most gambling, it requires certain skills. Putting the car sideways in a bend does not cost anything – it itself encourages this, but keeping the Impreza in a controlled drift is not easy. The car continually strives to slip off a given path, scaring an inexperienced driver. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to take courses in extreme training before acquiring such a rampant car.
Skills become key requirements when driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Indeed, the same Volkswagen Golf R requires the driver much less feats.
The fastest Impreza preserved the virtues of its predecessors, and even multiplied them. It has become attractive in terms of consumer qualities – a high-quality media system has appeared, finishing materials and ergonomics have improved. But still, it’s not a car for everyone.
